President & CEO

As President and CEO of Opportunity Home San Antonio, Ed Hinojosa, Jr. is responsible for the oversight and operation of the largest Public Housing authority in the State of Texas, and one of the nation’s largest. Before becoming President and CEO, he served as Chief Financial Officer and was responsible for strategic planning, financial operations, asset management, investments, technology and risk management. 

In addition to his experience at Opportunity Home, he has managed financial operations in a wide variety of industries, such as multi-family housing, insurance, technology and government contracting, holding top financial positions in organizations of more than $1 billion in size. 

His versatile background has proven to be invaluable to the organization, enabling him to spearhead innovative initiatives to address the growing demand for affordable housing, including securing $25 million in city bond funding, a first for the housing authority.

This funding will be dedicated to furthering Opportunity Home’s mission of improving the lives of residents by providing quality affordable housing and building sustainable, thriving communities.

Hinojosa has not only explored new avenues for increasing the availability of more affordable housing, but has played a key role in the organization’s rebranding. Previously known as the Opportunity Home San Antonio, the organization changed its name to Opportunity Home San Antonio to underscore their commitment to creating a community of opportunities for all residents who call San Antonio home, regardless of income levels.

With this rebranding, Hinojosa is also implementing training programs to ensure that Opportunity Home team members are focused on the core values of compassion, equity and excellence while helping clients to find the most optimal housing solutions and services to meet their needs.

In addition to his leadership role at Opportunity Home, Mr. Hinojosa serves on boards for HAI Group, a national insurance company for the affordable housing industry, and Credit Human, a financial institution committed to enhancing the well-being of the communities they serve.

Hinojosa’s prior positions have been of increasing responsibility in financial and general management in the United States and Latin America. He has been a key adviser and collaborator on strategic business issues including major activities such as reorganizations, restructures, acquisitions, divestitures, turnarounds, and start-ups. Hinojosa has industry experience in housing, insurance, agribusiness, food processing and government contracting.

He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
