New Construction

SAHA leads multi-family development projects to increase the affordable housing stock in San Antonio. The developments are strategically placed in areas near public transportation, educational opportunities and medical services. The projects are developed with public input and integrated into the social and cultural context of the neighborhoods.

New Development

ALAZAN LOFTS

SAHA and the NRP Group are proposing a 88 mixed-income, multi-family development on the Westside of San Antonio. The Lofts will have 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom units, of which 80 will be designated affordable.

OUR LADY OF CHARITY

SAHA is planning to transform the Convent at Springview on Grimes Street into a 72-unit apartment complex called Our Lady of Charity. The plans will include renovations to B and C Buildings and the former Miller Child Development Center building.

TAMPICO LOFTS

SAHA is seeking approval from HUD to dispose and demolish a former warehouse on Tampico street to redevelop the site and transform it into affordable housing.


MAJESTIC RANCH APARTMENTS

SAHA and Homespring Residential Services (HRS) partnered to implement a comprehensive development project on 12.566 acres of land, owned by SAHA and located at the northwest corner of Culebra Road and Mira Vista Road.

Michael Hogan with HRS offered to develop 14.79 acres of land he owns at 4847 Callaghan Road, known as Majestic Ranch and two miles down from the site, and combine his acreage with SAHA to build a development that will include multi-family rentals, live-work units, retail, and non-residential opportunities. The developer is proposing the construction of a 288-unit, multi-family property on the land, using private activity bonds and 4 percent tax credits.

The rental units will compromise of 15 residential buildings, to include 92 one-bedroom units, 167 two-bedroom units and 32 three-bedroom units.

EAST MEADOWS II

SAHA is completing the final phase of the Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Plan and constructing the last third and final development, East Meadows II.

REHABILITATION

100 LABOR STREET APARTMENTS

SAHA is partnering with Franklin Development and is expected to break ground in September 2019 on 100 Labor Street Apartments, a 215-unit mixed-income multifamily project at the corner of E. Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Labor Street. 

Formerly known as Victoria Commons, the development was first approved for incentives through the Center City Housing Incentive Policy (CCHIP) in 2015. The project has since undergone an updated design and developers worked closely with the neighborhood to gather input and create an appropriate development that complements the surrounding area.

A total of 43 units will be reserved for families earning less than 50 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI), or $33,400 for a family of four. Forty-three units will be available to families earning 50 percent of the AMI, or $33,400 for a family of four. The remaining units will be available at market rate. The project is expected to be complete by early 2020.
