Brandee Perez serves as Chief Real Estate and Development Officer. With more than 18 years of Affordable Housing experience, she will oversee Development Services and Neighborhood Revitalization (DSNR), Construction Services and Sustainability, Asset Management and Beacon Communities.
She leads the construction of more than 3,000 new mixed-income, mixed-use multifamily affordable housing units valued at more than $800 million throughout the city. Perez also oversees more than 45 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) partnerships and more than 30 Affordable Housing communities.
As a San Antonio native, she is grateful for the opportunity to impact the lives of thousands of families in the same community where she was raised.
Prior to her current role, Perez served as Chief Operating Officer, leading the Public Housing, Assisted Housing Programs, Community Development Initiatives, Operations Support, Construction Services and Sustainability and Safety and Security departments. Under this portfolio, she worked alongside nearly 550 employees and assisted in managing a budget of nearly $200 million.
Perez has also served as Director of Federal Housing Programs, where she successfully merged the management of the Public Housing and the Assisted Housing programs and improved standard operating procedures. During her tenure, the wait time for individuals to receive affordable housing assistance had decreased from a 4- to 7-year wait period to a 3- to 5-year wait period.
In 2018, she was distinguished as one of “Five Housing Choice Voucher Directors You Should Know About” in “Housing Futures.” She was also nominated for the San Antonio Business Journal Women’s Leadership Award in 2022.
Perez holds a master’s in accounting from Our Lady of the Lake University and a bachelor’s in accounting from The University of Texas at San Antonio. She is actively pursuing her Certified Public Accountants (CPA). She has earned an industry certification in Housing Choice Voucher Executive Management, Public Housing Executive Management, Public Housing Management, Housing Choice Voucher Financial Management Specialist and the Family Self-Sufficiency Program. Outside of the organization, Perez is an active volunteer for the LEE High School band and other non-profit organizations in our community.
