
Born and raised in San Antonio, Gabriel L. Lopez is a father of two, is a graduate of Tom Clark High School, received his BBA with an emphasis in Management & Financial Services from Baylor University, and has strong ties to the San Antonio community serving as president and secretary of the Shenandoah Homeowners Association, a home community of more than 500 residents.
He began his business career in mortgage lending. During his tenure at Texas Dow Employees Credit Union from 2009 to 2012, Lopez developed, implemented, and executed a business model that doubled mortgage loan production growth while maintaining a 35 percent reduction in expenses. For over a decade, he has served as the Director of Business Development for Jordan Foster Construction, Lopez manages client relations and is instrumental in developing and retaining strategic partnerships to increase business opportunities.
Knowing the importance of community service, Lopez also dedicates time to serving his community of various boards and commissions. He spent 6 years serving on the board of the San Antonio Housing Trust Foundation before being appointed by Mayor Nirenberg to the Opportunity Home San Antonio board in 2019. On August 2, 2023, Lopez was unanimously elected as Chair of the Board on August 2, 2023. His personal connection to public housing, with family members who resided at Alazán-Apache Courts, underscores his commitment to Opportunity Home’s cause. Under his leadership, Lopez has engaged stakeholders and facilitated collaboration among local organizations, raising awareness of the need for sustainable housing solutions and mobilizing resources to ensure these vital programs thrive. His dedication to community development serves as an inspiring catalyst for others to join in advancing this essential city-wide mission.
