Gilbert Casillas serves as a resident commissioner and Vice Chairman on the Opportunity Home Board of Commissioners. Born in Sacramento, California, and raised in San Antonio, he served in the U.S. Army (Honorably Discharged, 1981).
Casillas has experience as a promotions and marketing manager for various radio and television stations in San Antonio and Austin. He works for Mission Park Funeral Chapels at Brookehill and Palm Heights Funeral Homes as a Provisional Funeral Director and is a graduate of the San Antonio College Mortuary Science program.
