SAHA to Receive $113,000 Coronavirus Recovery Grant

Texas Senator John Cornyn today announced a $113,195 federal grant to the San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) to help with recovery efforts from the economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

The funding is made available through the CARES Act to provide housing assistance through the moderate rehabilitation program, which provides project-based rental assistance for low-income families.

Families will pay no more than 30 percent of their adjusted household income to rent.

“SAHA is thankful to our elected leaders in Washington for making the needs of our residents a priority, the impact of the pandemic has been devastating for our families whose resources are already limited. Providing a voucher to another family in need is another opportunity to bring relief and stability in today’s environment.” said David Nisivoccia, President and CEO of SAHA.

Because the voucher is project-based, the voucher is tied to a unit at a property and does not move with the renter, as traditional housing choice vouchers do.
